English: As salmon make their annual spawning runs in streams and rivers across the Tongass, the Situk River Rangers of Yakutat would like to remind anglers to pack out line and tackle when they're done fishing.
It may seem like a small thing to leave behind a few feet of tangled line, but in popular fishing areas, a significant amount of plastic and lead can build up in the environment. The River Rangers make a concerted effort to clean up discarded tackle in the Situk River, but they could benefit from a better effort by anglers. The following pictures illustrate the amount of material that can accumulate in popular areas. |
