English: Trawsfynydd Reservoir. Built in the 1950's Llyn Trawsfynydd was used to supply cooling water to magnox type, twin nuclear reactors. The reactors provided power to the National Grid for 28 years before being shutdown in the 1990's. The site is now used for storage of nuclear waste and decommissioning is likely to take over a hundred years. |
