Summary
editDescriptionTrees hiding The Secret Pond - geograph.org.uk - 1630661.jpg |
English: Trees hiding The Secret Pond. The Half Moon lake was created when the River Calder was diverted during the construction of the canal and weir. It was later divided into three when the railway was built. One of the small ponds was surrounded by trees and so became known as the secret pond, which featured in the booklet "Kirkthorpe Rememberd and Revisited" as does the photo. It is now almost impossible to get to due to the undergrowth. |
