English: Trent and Mersey Canal near Alrewas. Near Alrewas the Trent and Mersey Canal crosses the River Trent on the level. The towpath is elevated on stilts as can be seen on the right. Great care must be taken by boaters at this point, especially when the river is in flood. Keep close to the towpath side and engage full power until safely across. |
