English: Palazzo Carciotti in Trieste, Italy Deutsch: Palazzo Carciotti an der Mündung des Canal Grande von Triest. 1802-1805 ließ ihn der griechischen Kaufmanns Demetrio Carciotti unter Leitung des Architekten Matteo Pertsch als 100m langes und 40m breites Wohn- und Geschäftshaus im Triestiner Klassizismus erbauen. Sechzehn Wohnungen in den oberen Etagen und das achtzehn Stallungen, Scheunen und Lagerhallen im Erdgeschoss. Die Fassade besitzt einen Vorbau mit sechs ionischen Säulen, die eine Brüstung mit allegorischen Statuen der sechs Hauptgötter des Olymps tragen. Seine Balustrade wird von einer Kuppel überragt, die einen napoleonische Adler auf ihrer Spitze trägt, da der Palazzo in der Zeit der napoleonischen Besetzung Triests fertiggestellt wurde. Innen wird der Palazzo von einem Rundsaal im Empire-Stil unter der Kuppel dominiert, in dem elegante Flachreliefs an Themen der Ilias erinnern. Zahlreichen Fresken von Giuseppe Bison und Statuen von Antonio Bosa, einem Schüler von Canova, schmücken die Innenräume. Bereits 1831 wurde der Palast der erste Sitz der Assicurazioni Generali; dann war es der Sitz des Hafenverwaltung und heute ist er im Eigentum der Stadt Trieste. |
