Description
English: Between World Wars I and II, the Washington National Guard served the state in a variety of capacities. Units were mobilized to maintain order during the Seattle General Strike and other labor conflicts and to assist in rescue efforts during floods and fires.

This rainy day photo, probably taken in 1921, shows members of the National Guard lined up on Western Avenue in downtown Seattle. Their armory headquarters is in the background.
