Description

Truyes (Indre-et-Loire).

Exsurgence qui sort d'une cavité au milieu du village. Cette exsurgence des eaux pluviales du plateau calcaire donne naissance à un petit ruisseau (500m) qui se jette dans l'Indre.

Truyes est probablement un dérivé du latin populaire " traucum", "trou, cavité". Au XVIIIe siècle, la forme "Truies ou Truis" est attestée. Les habitants on finit par préférer la graphie avec un "y", probablement pour éviter un nom de commune peu flatteur.

Le ruisseau lui-même aurait le nom de "Truyes"".
