historic photo of church

In the aftermath of an earthquake in 1890 the large rounded pediment came down from the top of the facade. Observe, too, the first bit of preservation efforts after Tumacácori's establishment as a national monument in 1908. A fence has been erected in front of the church to discourage vandalism.
