Description
English: Tumulus, Howe Hill, Newby. Tumulus is to the right of the house in a private garden, in Baine's Directory of the County of York (1823) it is quoted that "This is a remarkable tumulus, and on the side of the hill towards the south are evident marks of an intrenchment, probably Saxon, and in the plain below, it is reported that armour, swords, and human bones have frequently been found."
