English: Tumulus on Bere Down Some of the barrows and tumuli in this area seem to have suffered and been ploughed out over the years; this one, beside the Jubilee Trail, here following Bridleway SE6/3 along Bagwood Road, looks in good shape. Behind it is part of what Purbeck District Council describes in its Draft Landscape Character Assessment as the "open, broad and rolling landform, distinctive of chalk upland landscapes. It is a unified and expansive landscape" www.purbeck.gov.uk/pdf/LCA%20(Non-AONB)%2027%20July%202007.pdf . |
