Oslo with the City Hall on the left and a part of Akershus Fortress on the right. Also visible are the remains of two short railway tunnels on the abandoned Oslo Port Line. Original description: Built around 1300, this medieval fortress and castle was built by King Hakon V. It is currently used during the summer for concerts, dances and theatrical productions. The Akershus Castle dates back to the 17th century, and was renovated into a Renaissance palace by Christian IV. Royal events are still conducted in the chapel and the tombs of King Hakon VII and Olav V are located beneath it. See set comments for %u201COslo Norway Overview%u201D. |
