Summary
editDescriptionTupolev Tu-128 0 red (10229196275).jpg |
The Tu-128 was a twin-engined supersonic interceptor with a maximum speed of nearly 1,200mph. It first flew in 1961 and the type was finally retired in 1990. It competed against the La-250, an example of which is also on display at Monino. Although generally referred to by the Tupolev designation of Tu-128, it's Soviet Air Force designation was actually 'Tu-28'. A total of 198 were built and it was given the NATO codename 'Fiddler'. This is the prototype aircraft and was originally coded '0 black' before being given a red bort code (like many other aircraft at Monino!). c/n 71281. Russian Air Force Museum.
