"Domy tkaczy w Turku Domy tkaczy zostały wzniesione w latach 20-tych XIX wieku, gdy do Turku zaczęli licznie napływać imigranci – tkacze z zachodniej Wielkopolski, Czech i Saksonii. Tkackie domy, przy obecnych ulicach Kaliskiej i Żeromskiego (dawniej Pólko i Nowy Świat), wzniesiono około 1826 roku, na koszt skarbu Królestwa Polskiego, a następnie odpłatnie odstępowano je rzemieślnikom. Wszystkie powstały według jednolitego planu architektonicznego, na działkach o szerokości 23 metrów i długości 50 metrów. Parterowe budynki, wznoszone na planie prostokąta o wymiarach około 15 na 8 metrów, były murowane z cegły i tynkowane. Wewnątrz domu tkackiego mieściły się dwa mieszkania, każde o powierzchni około 50 metrów kwadratowych, rozdzielone wspólnym korytarzem. Dzięki temu, w jednym budynku mogły mieszkać dwie rodziny. Z tyłu domu najczęściej był ogród z budynkami gospodarczymi, w których rodziny tkackie z czasem uruchamiały małe manufaktury. Większość domów miało delikatną klasycystyczną dekorację fasad frontowych, okna tej samej wielkości oraz dwuspadowe dachy, najczęściej kryte gontem, a w późniejszym okresie papą." |
