Summary edit

Description

Arriving at the meadow at Elk Lick Knob, Potter County, along the Twin Sisters Trail in the Hammersley Wild Area of Susquehannock State Forest.

A forest fire in 1964 created the meadow. According to the Guide to the Susquehannock Trail System, the fire claimed 275 acres in May of that year. The forest never fully regenerated; trees are sparse and interspersed with thickets of ferns, grass, and briars. From the meadow is a fine vista of the Hammersley Fork headwaters drainage area.
