Description
English: Two 12th-century inscribed stones from the original Norman apse wall of Winchester Cathedral on which the royal mortuary chests were originally placed. The Latin text on the stone relates to Queen Emma (c. 984–1052), and translates as "Queen Emma lies here, may God have mercy on her soul, and he who prays a Paternoster and Ave Maria for her soul will have six days' pardon".
