Description
English: Two .54 caliber lead balls. These balls were probably used in a musket such as the Northwest Trade gun. During the time of the fur trade, these smoothbore trade guns were among the most common firearms that American Indians used for hunting. The large caliber balls that Fort Union archeologists recovered ranged in size from .42” to .73” in diameter.
