Title
Two photographs of food delivery to C. M. Robinson Groceries and Hardware, Pike Street, Monroe, Ohio, 1913 March 5
Description
The businesses pictured in these two photographs are: C. M. Robinson Groceries and Hardware; Pride of Maryland, Peter Neu; Boarding House and Feed Stable; and Monroe Mercantile Company. The businesses are on Pike Street - present-day Main Street. The grocery and hardware store that Charles M. Robinson ran was obtained from I. O. Byers. Robinson was 57 years old at the 1930 census and still operated a grocery store. Peter Neu, Jr. was born on Pike Street in Monroe on December 17, 1873. He ran a tavern between 1908 and 1918 when Prohibition ended the sale of liquor. He then opened an ice cream parlor. The family lived above the storeroom for 55 years. Peter served on village council. He passed away on January 27, 1953.
