English: Tyne Tour below Barrasford The annual Tyne Tour covers trips on a variety of rivers in the Tyne catchment, but to most people, it means the North Tyne through Warden Gorge. The normal put-on for this is at Chollerford, but for the tour weekend (the weekend of the first Friday in November) only, access is available to put on at Barrasford and use of Chollerford is discouraged. After the initial rapids at Barrasford, there is this long flat section, pleasant enough most years, but it can be a bit unpleasant in a southerly wind. |
