Summary edit

Description
English: Tyrley Top Lock No 1, Shropshire Union Canal. Bathed in evening sunshine, the lockside buildings (now converted to residential use) at this end are dated 1837, just two years after Thomas Telford fully opened this, his last canal. The flight of five locks at Tyrley lower the water by 33 feet (ten metres).
