Description
English: U.S. Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman visited Tajikistan on May 20 as part of his current visit to South and Central Asia. He met with President Emomali Rahmon and his senior officials to thank them for their support of the international mission in Afghanistan. Grossman reaffirmed Secretary Clinton’s message in her February 18 speech to the Asia Society and discussed recent efforts towards a political resolution of the conflict. He emphasized the importance of regional support for a stable and prosperous Afghanistan. Finally, he reiterated the United States’ intention to continue cooperation with the Tajik government on issues of common concern in the future.
