Description
English: United States Marines are lifted to the flight deck of the U.S. Navy escort carrier USS Sicily (CVE-118) off Korea in 1952 to board the waiting Sikorsky HRS-1 helicopters of Marine Helicopter Transport Squadron 161 (HMR-161). During "Operation Marlex-5" in September 1952, HMR-161 moved Marine Corps landing forces from ship to shore by helicopter for the first time. The exercise wal held off the west coast of Korea in the Inchon area. The Marines "assaulted" Chak Tak island.
