Description
English: A U.S. Navy Lockheed P-3C Orion of Patrol Squadron 4 (VP-4) "Skinny Dragons" leads a Japanese P-3C in flight over a bilateral force of U.S. and Japanese ships off Hawaii (USA) during exercise RIMPAC '98, 15 July 1998. The ships in formation are: USS Key West (SSN-722), USS Vandegrift (FFG-)48, USS California (CGN-36), USS Chancellorsville (CG-62), USS Port Royal (CG-73), JS Kirishima (DDG-174), JS Shirane (DDH-143), JS Murasame (DD-101), JS Harusame (DD-102), and JS Towada (AOE-422). RIMPAC '98 was the sixteenth in a series of Pacific naval exercises.
