English: A U.S. soldier of the 40th Signal Battalion installs telephone wires at Bingerbrück, Germany, 8 April 1945. Bingen (Rhein) Hauptbahnhof (train station) is visible in the background, with the "Mäuseturm" in the Rhine and castle Ehrenfels on the opposite side of the river.
Original Caption: "Sgt. Stanley Barreteau (of New York, New York), fastens open wire to insulator at Bingen, Germany. He is a linesman of the 40th Signal Battalion, of the U.S. Twelfth Army Group, which is working on an open-wire construction project, largest of its kind ever undertaken by a signal unit.
