Description

Base visit Ahlhorn, 20 October 1992.

Hubschraubertransportgeschwader 64 (helicopter wing 64) was based at Ahlhorn in the north west of Germany. Tasks were transport, training, (combat) search and rescue and liaison.

HTG-64 left Ahlhorn in 1993 and was officially disbanded on 1 April 1994. The base is now almost completely covered with 76,000 solar panels. The unit was resurrected and now operates CH-53s from Laupheim.

71+65 may still be in use with Army unit THR30 at Niederstetten - the last Huey unit in Germany.
