Ende August 2007 fand in Leverkusen eine Konferenz der UN-Umweltbehörde UNEP statt, an der 150 jugendliche Umweltschützer aus aller Welt teilnahmen. Finanziert wurde die viertägige Tagung ausgerechnet vom Chemie- und Pharmaunternehmen BAYER. Der Konzern stellte nicht nur die Räumlichkeiten zu Verfügung, sondern gestaltete auch Teile des Programms und betrieb die Konferenz-Webseite.

Die Coordination gegen BAYER-Gefahren fordert ein Ende der Zusammenarbeit von UNEP und BAYER-Konzern. Lobbyisten von BAYER bekämpften in der Vergangenheit sämtliche Anstrengungen zum Umweltschutz - vom Kyoto-Protokoll bis hin zur EU-Chemikaliengesetzgebung REACH. BAYER produziert zahlreiche hochgefährliche Produkte und emittiert große Mengen von Schadstoffen und Treibhausgasen. Die Kooperation mit einem Umweltsünder wie BAYER beschädigt daher die Glaubwürdigkeit des Umweltprogramms der Vereinten Nationen.
