Description
English: This image was taken a few blocks west of the beginning of historical United States Route 66 (U.S. 66) along Adams Street in Chicago, Illinois, circa September 9, 2023. U.S. 66 was a route established in November 1926 and defunct in June 1985, as the route was mostly replaced by Interstates 40, 44, and 55. It ran from Chicago to Santa Monica, California, in the Los Angeles Metropolitan area along the coast of the Pacific Ocean, traversing seven states across the United States (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois).
