Description
English: Douglas RB-66B-DL 'Destroyer', probably BB-445, s/n 54-445 (tail no 4445), 1st TRS (1st Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron), 10th TRW (10th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing), based at Spangdahlem AB (Rhineland-Palatinate) during 1959, based at RAF Alconbury (UK) since August, 1959. Visited Giebelstadt AB in June, 1961. [1]

Notes:

  • (1) RB-66B-DL s/n 54-444 of 1st TRS, 10th TRW crashed near end of runway at Spangdahlem AB (Germany) Jul 8, 1958. Crew of 3 killed.
  • (2) RB-66B-DL s/n 54-430 of 19th TRS, 10th TRW lost over North Sea on flight from RAF Alconbury Mar 16, 1961. 3 crew missing.
  • (3) RB-66B-DL s/n 54-421 of 19th TRS, 10th TRW crashed on approach to Bruntingthorpe, England Dec 14, 1959. All 3 crewmembers killed.
  • (4) RB-66B-DL s/n 54-422 of 10th TRS (?) probably 1st TRS , 10th TRW crashed on approach to Sculthorpe, England Apr 14, 1958. All 3 crew killed.

Besuchte Giebelstadt AB im Juni 1961 (Foto: Flugplatz Giebelstadt). [1]

Hinweise:

  • (1) RB-66B-DL s/n 54-444 der 1st TRS, 10th TRW stürzte am 8. Juli 1958 in der Nähe des Startbahnendes in USAFE Spangdahlem AB (Deutschland) ab. Die 3-köpfige Besatzung kam ums Leben.
  • (2) RB-66B-DL s/n 54-430 der 19th TRS, 10th TRW über der Nordsee auf dem Flug von RAF Alconbury am 16. März 1961 vermisst. 3 Besatzungsmitglieder vermisst.
  • (3) RB-66B-DL s/n 54-421 der 19th TRS, 10th TRW stürzte beim Anflug auf Bruntingthorpe, England, am 14. Dezember 1959 ab. Alle 3 Besatzungsmitglieder wurden getötet.
  • (4) RB-66B-DL s/n 54-422 der 10th TRS (?) wahrscheinlich 1st TRS, 10th TRW stürzte beim Anflug auf Sculthorpe, England am 14. April 1958 ab. Alle 3 Besatzungsmitglieder kamen ums Leben.
