Description A downed U.S. Air Force pilot awaits rescue by helicopter in tall elephant grass in Southeast Asia in 1972.
Note: The attached file information describes the pilot as an F-105 pilot, being rescued on 18 September 1972. The F-105G 63-8360 from the 17th Wild Weasel Squadron, 388th Tactical Fighter Wing was lost on that date, but the crew (Capt. Thomas O'Neal Zorn, 1st Lt. Michael S. Turose) is missing since the aircraft crashed into the Gulf of Tonkin. The last F-105G lost during the Vietnam War was 63-8359, which was lost on 16 November 1972. The crew was rescued two days later by helicopter. The photo may therefore be dated 18 November 1972.
