Image title | ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Crewmembers from the Aids to Navigation Team in St. Petersburg, Fla., maintain a buoy in Tampa Bay with help from a 55-foot Aids to Navigation Boat (ANB). Twenty-six 55's were brought into service in 1975 and has live-aboard features so that it can be used in areas where few shore facilities are available. It also has a 4,000 lb cargo capacity and is fitted with a 500-gallon per minute fire pump, Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) linked to the boat's steering and charting system, both male and female berthing areas, on board sanitary facilities, 4-inch icebreaking capabilities and 4,500 lbs capacity.
