Description

You can now see #BeeWatch 24/7 at www.usda.gov/beehive. Watch honey bees buzzing in and out of the People’s Garden Apiary located on the roof of the Jamie L. Whitten Building at U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Headquarters in Washington, DC. Female worker bees are bringing nectar and pollen back to the hive which was collected from flowering plants growing in the People’s Garden and surrounding landscapes on the National Mall.

The People’s Garden Apiary is home to two beehives with 20,000-30,000 bees. The bees are Italian honey bees, the most common type used in commercial beekeeping throughout the United States.
