Summary edit

Description A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Burn Boss briefs resources prior to the lighting of the Troh prescribed burn on Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge, in late October. Resources from the Mid-Columbia River and Inland Northwest National Wildlife Refuge Complex Fire Management Programs , the Spokane Bureau of Land Management, and Trout Lake Forest Service Ranger District worked together to implement the burn, successfully treating 72 acres. Fire historically played an important role in maintaining grassland plant communities on the Refuge. Prescribed fire can been utilized as an effective management tool to remove dense, rank vegetation, woody encroachment, and accumulated debris, particularly in areas that are unsuitable for machinery.
