Description
English: Lance Cpl. Kenneth Craft gives his wife one last hug before boarding one of the buses to Hickam Air Force Base for his seven-month deployment to Iraq. Approximately 150 Marines and Sailors with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment departed Hawaii Sunday, April 5, for the seven-month deployment to Al Asad, Iraq in support of the Global War on Terrorism. The Marines and Sailors were the last of three groups that will replace 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment – also stationed in Hawaii – and will participate in the continuing stabilization, security and counter-terror efforts currently underway. The battalion, also known as “America’s Battalion,” will deploy approximately 1,000 Marines and Sailors during the month of April
