English: INDIAN HEAD, Md.-Marines from the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) rescue a survivor from a catastrophic collapse during a simulated high-yield explosive event at the Raymond M. Downey Sr. Training Facility Nov. 17. The primary challenge during this evolution was finding the manpower to execute the mission said Cpl. Shane Czesak, a crash fire rescue technician and evaluator for the training. "The rescue element overcame the challenge of insufficient manpower by augmenting their team with personnel from other sections of the Initial Response Force (IRF) with tasks such as debris removal and patient extract," said Czesak. CBIRF's 38 man rescue platoon conducts missions similar to urban search and rescue teams yet can also respond when there is a threat of chemical contamination. |
