Description
English: PATUXENT RIVER NAS--Lance Cpl. Jeremy F. Spier, a technical rescue technician with the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF), "picks off" a victim that is suspended more than 40 feet above the ground during a training evolution May 24. During the rescue mission the technician attaches a pick off strap to the victim. He then lifts the victim off of the line system he is suspended by and places him on his own. The "pick off" is complete when both the victim and the rescue technician have been raised to the safety of the rooftop. According to Spier, the physical conditioning of the back and shoulders is a key factor in the success of missions of this type.
