English: 050119-M-1158H-037 POINT PEDRO, JAFFNA, Sri Lanka - U.S. Navy doctor Lt. Marco Ayala checks a tsunami victim's heart beat at an aid station here Jan. 18. Ayala, from Fairfax, Va., is one of about 30 U.S. Navy medical personnel are assisting in caring for tsunami victims at the northern tip of the country. The Navy doctors and their staff are part of the United States' Combined Support Group-Sri Lanka, which has been coordinating with the government of Sri Lanka and the U.S. Agency for International Development to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief for about three weeks now, including clearing debris in southern Sri Lanka and using helicopters to deliver much needed supplies to locations like Ampara, Potuvil and Matara. The Okinawa, Japan-based medical personnel are from the Forward Resuscitative Surgical System's Shock Trauma Platoon, 3rd Medical and Dental Battalions, 3rd Force Service Support Group.
