Description
English: Surgeon General of the Navy, Vice Adm. Donald Arthur adds his signature to the sign in front of the Surgical Shock Trauma Platoon. The surgeon general spoke to the sailors about the Fleet Marine Force designation pin, and award corpsmen assigned to Marine units strive for. It takes a lot of hard work, knowledge, and living the Marine lifestyle for a corpsman to earn the privilege of wearing the Eagle, Globe and Anchor, the definitive emblem of the Marine Corps, which is displayed on the FMF pin. The visit gave Vice Adm. Arthur a chance to understand the challenges faced by the military medical personnel providing the initial lifesaving treatment. The visit was important because it allowed us to show the surgeon general that �we are using minimal supplies for maximum effect,� said Petty Officer 3rd Class Brady Freeman. It also allowed us to demonstrate the difference between casualty and medical evacuations.
