English: Cpl. Andrew Smith, Marine Wing Support Squadron 371 field military policeman, reunites with his wife, Priscilla, and daughter, Angelian, at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz., Sept. 24, 2009, after a seven-month deployment to Afghanistan. “It feels great to be back,” said Smith. “When I saw my wife and daughter, I was extremely happy.” While on deployment MWSS-371 constructed a helicopter parking expansion at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan. The historic expanse was the largest aluminum matting construction ever in a combat zone, using more than 2.2 million square feet of matting. “We helped train the Afghan police so they aren’t as dependent on the Marines for protection,” said Smith. |
