English: A patch of burnt underbrush is all that remains after forestry personnel conducted a controlled burn near Lyman Road aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Dec. 21. Controlled burns such as this one promotes new growth and gives the long-leafed pine a chance to grow and thrive off the nutrients a controlled burn provides.
