Description
English: An AV-8B Harrier of Marine Attack Squadron 542 takes off from the 12-degree ramp at the end of the 600-foot flight deck of the HMS Ark Royal, the British Royal Navy's flagship aircraft carrier. “The HMS Ark Royal was created with the sole intention of launching Harriers into harm’s way,” said Capt. Nicholas R. Wineman, a pilot with VMA-223.
