Description
English: Cpl. Jamie L. Emerson is one of the luckiest "Bastards" at Camp Habbaniyah. The 22-year-old mortarman narrowly escaped death when a enemy round struck him in his Kevlar helmet in Husayba, Iraq, Aug. 1. Luckily, most of the round's impact was distributed throughout the helmet and Emerson only suffered from a second-degree concussion and a scab on the upper left side of his head. Emerson is assigned to the "Betio Bastards" of 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment and serving a seven-month deployment in the Habbaniyah area.
