Description
English: 221017-N-TP834-1002 PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. (Oct. 17, 2022) U.S. Army Gen. James Dickinson, commander, U.S. Space Command, greets Japan Chief of Staff, Joint Staff, Gen. Koji Yamazaki, during a visit to USSPACECOM headquarters, Peterson Space Force Base, Colo., Oct. 17, 2022. The visit was part of a four-day trip to the U.S. by Yamazaki, which included visits to USSPACECOM and U.S. Strategic Command, and a Trilateral Chiefs of Defense Conference with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, U.S. Army Gen. Mark Milley and Gen. Seung-Kyum Kim, Chairman of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff. Members of USSPACECOM briefed Yamazaki and staff on threats to the space domain and facilitated a discussion on USSPACECOM and its commitment to an increasingly growing combined force. In light of the DPRK’s recent destabilizing missile activity, Yamazaki and Dickinson reaffirmed a strong U.S.-Japan alliance in space, which is a cornerstone of peace, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
