English: The former U.S. Navy light cruiser USS Brooklyn (CL-40) is transferred to the Chilean Navy as OHiggins (02) during ceremonies held at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Pennsylvania (USA), 30 June 1951. Standing at attention are: Lieutenant Del Cummings, USN; Captain Willard J. Suits, USN; Ambassador Felix Nieto Del Rio of Chile, Ambassador's Aide; Rear Admiral John H. Brown, USN. Brooklyn was actually commissioned by Chile on 9 January 1951 while still being in mothballs. |
