Description
English: The U.S. Navy destroyer escort USS Coates (DE-685) underway, circa in the mid-1950s, before any ECM-antennas were added to her mast. Coates kept her (World War II-vintage) SC-radar and the "hedgehog" anti-submarine mortar until her decommissioning in 1970. From 1957 to 1970, Coates served as a Naval Reserve Training vessel based at New Haven, Connecticut (USA).
