Description A U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Essex (CVS-9) underway alongside the Pakistani frigate Tughril (261) for the transfer of Admiral James S. Russell during "Midling VI" exercises in the Arabian Sea on 22 November 1963. Essex, with assigned Carrier Anti-Submarine Air Group 60 (CVSG-60), was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean from 1 October to 20 December 1963.
