English: The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Franklin (CV-13) anchored in the lower New York Harbor on 28 April 1945, soon after her return for repairs following war damage. Note the light coloured spaces on hull side below the island where 40 mm gun tubs were moved to permit passage through the Panama Canal.
