Summary edit

Description
English: The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Franks (DD-554) underway in the Pacific Ocean, in early 1945.
Note: The photo is dated 4 May 1945. However, Franks was badly damaged in a collision with the battleship USS New Jersey (BB-62) on 2 April 1945. After repairs at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Washington (USA), she rendezvoused with the Fast Carrier Task Force, again, on 3 September 1945. Visible in the background are a Essex-class aircraft carrier in Camouflage Measure 21 and a Independence-class light carrier in dazzle camouflage. As Fanks was assigned to Task Group 58.4 before her collision, the carriers are most probably USS Intrepid (CV-11) and USS Independence (CVL-22).
