Description The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Oriskany (CVA-34) underway in 1972. Oriskany was deployed to Vietnam from 5 June 1972 to 30 March 1973. Note that her embarked Carrier Air Wing 19 (CVW-19) was the only wing on an Essex-class carrier that did not have at least one squadron equipped with the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. Since 1970, her attack squadrons flew the LTV A-7 Corsair II.
