Description The U.S. Navy destroyer tender USS Piedmont (AD-17) underway. The photo was was taken before her FRAM-modernization at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard which lasted from October 1962 to February 1963. Piedmont´s armament was reduced to a single 127 mm turret forward. A hangar and flight deck for the QH-50 DASH-drones was installed aft.
