Description The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Saratoga (CV-60) making a hard turn to starboard as the ship breaks out of a battle group formation during maneuvers as part of Operation Desert Shield. The Saratoga, with assigned Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17) was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea from 7 August 1990 to 28 March 1991. The German guided missile destroyer Lütjens (D 185) and a Spanish Baleares-class frigate are sailing aft of the carrier.
