The British heavy cruiser HMS Norfolk (78) is in the right background, and a Royal Navy light cruiser is partially visible at left. The Valley Forge, with assigned Carrier Air Group 11 (CVG-11), sailed westward around the globe from 9 October 1947 to 11 June 1948. |
